The Beautification Commission is composed of ten members who include representatives of the business community, a representative of the Chamber of Commerce, a representative of the education/school community, a representative of the religious/faith communities, and residents. The commission meets every first Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. at City Hall. The commission is in charge of the volunteer litter clean-up days which are every third Saturday mornings of the month, starting at 8 a.m. and typically ending around 11 a.m. As of now the group organizes behind Walgreen’s at 8 a.m. and groups of volunteers are provided maps, assignments, orange vests, and bags. To reinforce the city’s new commitment to this priority the Beautification is at work to create a Business Appearance Award program. The city will periodically recognize a business that had made the effort to beautify their property and publicize that business through the media and Chamber of Commerce. If you have any questions about the volunteer litter clean-up days or the Beautification Commission, please e-mail Drew Awsumb (awsumb@cofh.org) or Becky Short (short@cofh.org) or call 618-489-2010.
